Norm Lewis on Jesse L. Martin (while discussing Bright Lights, Big City): "Let me see, I think I was basically Jesse L. Martin's understudy and I got to play his role in a workshop of it. I always joke around and say I was his understudy even though I was actually playing it and I wasn't his understudy. [Laughs.] It's a joke we have because I think he's so amazing." With only three weeks of filming left in the Marvin Gaye biopic, filming has been stopped for the past month. Initially it was due to problems with getting certain filming locations which then led to schedule conflicts with actors' schedules. However, different sources are reporting that there have been financing issues and the future of the film is uncertain. Crew members have apparently not been paid in full as a result of a cash flow problem with an American investor, however, it has been suggested that this has been resolved. Focus Features, who boarded with the film in April, has now dropped out. Stay tuned for further development. (Screen Daily) (Shadow and Act) (Vibe) (The Playlist)

Filming of the upcoming Marvin Gaye has been stopped for two weeks. However, the suspension is not due to financial problems or anything else that will prevent the film from being made, but rather certain locations became unavailable, which led to certain cast members being unavailable and vice-versa.
